Have You Spent Too Much Time in Thailand?

Said “sawasdee krap” to another foreigner without thinking.

Almost wai’d someone when you were back in your home country.

Started calling foreigners farang, even though you’re also a farang.

Heard “farang” in a conversation and immediately turned around.

Started saying “mai pen rai” instead of “no problem.”

Eat krapow at least once a week.

Put ice in your beer.

Started eating fruit with chilli and salt.

Have a regular street-food seller who already knows your order.

Eaten rice for breakfast.

Been told the taxi meter is “broken.”

Taken a motorcycle taxi 200 meters down the street

Spent hours in traffic only to travel 5km.

Stopped thinking it was unusual to see four people on one motorbike.

Given directions using a 7-Eleven as a landmark.

Started complaining that 24°C is cold.

Taken your shoes off somewhere and then realised nobody else had.

Walked into a 7-Eleven just to cool down.

Reached for a bum gun that wasn’t there.

Crossed the street just to walk in the shade.

Had someone visiting Thailand ask you for Thailand advice.

Given someone visa advice even though you are absolutely not an immigration lawyer.

Converted a price overseas into baht and immediately decided it was too expensive.

Got annoyed by someone who has lived in Thailand for three months explaining Thailand to you.

Been asked “How long have you lived in Thailand?” and had to calculate it.

Landed at Suvarnabhumi after a trip abroad and thought “Ah, nice to be home.”
