FAQ
How far in advance can I apply for a retirement extension at Chaeng Wattana?+
At Chaeng Wattana (Immigration Division 1), a common rule is that you can apply when you have 45 days or less remaining on your current stamp. Office practice can change, so confirm with the office before you go.
What if my passport has less than one year remaining?+
Immigration will only grant your one-year Non-Immigrant O (Retirement) extension up to your passport's expiry date. If your passport has less than 12 months remaining at the time of application, your extension will be shortened to match the remaining validity. For this reason, it is advisable to renew your passport before applying if it has less than one year remaining. Also note that many countries require at least 6 months of passport validity for international travel.
