No. It is still a Non-Immigrant O family route, but the relationship evidence is based on your Thai child rather than a Thai spouse. The financial threshold is commonly the same 400,000 THB or 40,000 THB/month route, but offices can ask for child-specific custody, legitimation, and home evidence.

Do I need custody or child legitimation documents?

It depends on your family situation and the immigration office. If the parents are divorced or were not legally married, offices may ask for custody evidence, child legitimation such as Kor Ror 11, or a court/legal guardian order.

Should my Thai child attend the appointment?

The Immigration Bureau checklist for the 90-day in-country application says the applicant and Thai national should appear in person. For extensions, requirements vary by office, so plan for the child or Thai family member to attend unless your office confirms otherwise.
